My name is Allison Cordts and I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist for the state of Georgia. I joined Canton Counseling after working as a school counselor and also as a therapist for a private agency for many years. My journey to my chosen career began when I was a teen. As with many young people, I had, at times, a difficult family life and a troubled adolescence. Once I found a therapist in my late 20’s, my eyes were opened to the possibility of healing, growth, and how I could change my life through self-discovery and realizing my own self-worth. I had many “ah ha” moments in session and I discovered very quickly what a wonderful gift therapy could be to someone with emotional struggles. Becoming a therapist offered me the opportunity to support and guide others toward a brighter, more positive future. I love what I do and I care about every client who walks through my door and chooses to put their trust in me.
I believe all individuals have the capacity to lead fulfilling and joyful lives if given the coping skills and strategies for psychological understanding and growth. Most people don’t realize their personal power and that they have the ability to change their lives. Helping clients move forward in a positive way is the focus and joy of my practice. My specialties include: women’s issues, anxiety, depression, personal growth, divorce and relationship issues, infertility and adoption, as well as loss and grief. The populations I commonly work with are adolescents, adults, couples, and seniors.
